If I play the beat whilst recording I get so much distortion I sound like lucifer himself, if I just record and windows media player the best it fails to record segments of my vocals, I’m the last person that can help! @bag Mandella knows his shit though he might be able to help

We're working on putting an RB mixtape together & this seems like the most suitable place to have a dedicated thread so here we are. (Shouts Jack Hallows it was his idea) I'll get it mastered by someone who knows what they're doing & drop it on spotify etc, doubt we'll make any money but you never know.

At the minute there's just me producing beats for it so anyone else who wants to contribute is more than welcome.

I think everyone oughtta have at least one solo track on it & then we can get some collabs in too.

I was looking to get my cousin & one of Virbs mates to mix & master it since they both have a music degree but long story short it's not looking like that's gonna happen. I have Ozone but being realistic I'd be wingin it & do an average job at best.

I'm sure there's plenty of other ways to get it done, I just don't have any other contacts for engineering. I'll have a think over next few days see if I come up with anything or if anyone else has any ideas.

@Urban Dialect You could download the free trial version of FL studio & it'll let you record and export audio but you just can't save project files, which isn't an issue if you just need to get vocals down. Might be a better option for you too Slay if you're still having problems with Audacity.

yeah that interface should work.. as far as the mic.. with your budget, you might want to shop for a dynamic mic with a spit filter and pop blocker

Managed to fix my audacity issues, instead of opening it via desktop I installed muse hub and opened it through there and all the issue just disappeared

My bad bro I don't check this thread as often as I should, if you tag me (@Bag Mandela) I'll catch it within a day or 2.

The only limitation of the trial is that you can't save projects, so you could record your vocals in there and do what you need to do no problem. I'd export the vocals once they're recorded though just to be on the safe side, FL has a tendency to crash with lots of processing.

If Mal is offering to get his engineer to work on them though I'd deffo take him up on that.

If you're looking for a mic > preamp set up you need to decide on the mic first, some of the preamps don't have the 48v phantom power a lot of mics need & some mics don't need phantom power. Mals right about the pop filter & mic stand though deffo get those. They sometimes come in a bundle with a foam round the back to minimize reflections, like these: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Microphon...ref=nb_sb_noss

If you let us know your budget it'll make it easier, I have some spare preamps & mics too.
