The only thing about doing a competition for the Blackbook artists is that there so few. It's hard to keep people interested with 3 people to compete with each week, you know? If we had like 10 people willing to do weekly Blackbook sketches, then word - I'm all for it, but I just don't see it going down like that, at least at present.

Except it doesn't just have to be the 'Blackbook' artists, it can be anybody who's willing to pick up a pen and paper and draw something epic. It can be anything, I used it as an example for a new competition idea. The point I was making is that it doesn't always have to be a 4 week sig competition that goes down the pan because of inactivity. It could be an intensive competition with one round, winner picked by the masses.
E.g. Brief would be: Hand drawn A4 page consisting of X and Y requirements.
Deadline for entries, everybody who enters posts their hand drawn A4 page, sized to fit brief. A poll is made, thread is cleaned and entries are listed. The site can vote for one week. Winner gets called the Hand Drawn A4 Page Champ.
End of, new idea. (Who can use the word 'Gummy' in the most appealing way, using either watercolour or toilet paper) <-- another stoned example.

We'll see how it works out. I'd like to see the GBL come back, but take out limitations as far as which type of media you choose to use. Topics can be very vague (ie Love) and whether you'd like to draw, make a poster (digital or hand drawn) or whatever else - you can do that as to not limit it to signature style work.

Or how about we take a more professional approach and give a MESSAGE to portray rather than a topic, and a target audience. It'll encourage people to think more creatively and critically about what they're trying to get across in the image.
