Microphone Problems
I'm having problems with my mic, hopefully someone here can help me out
Unless I'm REALLY loud, nothing registers with it into the computer and I can't hear it. In volume control, I have the line-in, mic, and rear mic volumes max'd out so that's not it. All other volumes are up too. I didn't used to have this problem.
Any ideas?

Re: Microphone Problems
Good news and bad news. The good news is that your mic, from what I would guess, is fine. Bad news, there could be multiple problems based on what you left as a description of the problem.
Solution #1
Double Click your sound icon.
>>
Under "Options" go to "Properties"
>>
Select "Recording" and hit OK.
Now, you wanna make sure your mic is selected as the recording input.
Solution #2
If thats not the problem, and you're using a pre-amp, look for a -20dB pad, or something along those lines that might be adding a noise buffer to your recording.
Solution #3
Then, if that still doesn't work, adjust the volumes on said pre-amp - concentrating more on the output than the input. Chances are, if your mic is fine, and your inputs are correct - that your pre-amp/mixer is either junk, or not set-up properly.
Other than that, I don't know what it might be.
But, I tried.

Re: Microphone Problems
Based on what you said, you may have the mic cable plugged into the wrong port on the mixer. Sounds stupid but it happened to me.
I got the wrong type of Mic Cable, so I totally ignored the port saying "Microphone" on my mixer and plugged it in to another slot. I ended up with very very faint sound.
So yeah, make sure you've got the right cables and they're all in the right slots.
